I never understand why artists do this – record a song in the studio that they know is impossible for them to perform live. Chris Brown was a headliner for WiLD 94.9′s WiLDJAM concert in San Jose California this past Thursday.

Brown treated fans with the first ever performance of “Fine China,” but the idea of the performance was a lot better than its execution. From his stage presence to the vocal delivery, Chris completely dropped the ball on this one. Between the petty subtweets and the lackluster music, Chris Brown is making those claims by Drake seem more valid.

Solange has embraced her role as the eccentric one of the Knowles clan. The mini-video for “Locked In Closets” shows Solange making her way around the Park Slope and Williamsburg sections of Brooklyn while being colorful and effortlessly awesome. You can think of the clip as a short expression of a day in the life of Solange. “Locked In Closets” is lifted from Solange’s True EP.

Tamar scores another one with “The One.” The sample is tasteful, the song grooves on its own, and Tamar sounds amazing! There is  a tad more production on the vocals than we usually hear from Tamar, but it is put in just the right places, so it works. “The One” should have no problem finding a place on urban radio because it is effortlessly hot. Tamar delivers a strong R&B sound by placing it over a familiar sample. All around win.

After releasing the artwork for his second album randomly on Twitter earlier this week, Mac Miller drops the first single from the project. “Watching Movies” is a lot darker than the stuff we’re used to hearing Mac, but the production kills! Plus he is actually spitting some real shit. Watching Movies with the Sound Off drops June 18.

“Watching Movies” sounds like something you would expect from A$AP Rocky, but the bars on this track are stronger. The song gives a feeling of doom and gloom that is encouraged by Mac’s bold delivery.

“People worship these idols ’til they come in contact with Gods. Hoes is all my disciples, you’ll get mind fucked by these broads. Life is just a recital, been a member of the true practice. When I die throw a couple bad bitches in my casket” is the refrain that gives the song its boost. This song has an energy about it that feels like it was crafted for a festival performance that Miller is known for.
